"Purple Outside isn't a real band. It's just a fake name for the guitarist of Screaming Trees, Gary Lee Conner's solo album. He plays all instruments except the drums, which are in charge of his brother Patrick. The album was recorded during one of the many Screaming Trees hiatus in 1990, the same year Van Conner released _Solomon Grundy_. As his bother Gary lee Conner isn't a strong vocalist, but his voice works better than Van's one emulating Robert Plant in songs like "White Plastic". The album combines the Screaming Trees sound with 60's and 70's psychedelic rock. The songs aren't too heavy, and the album seeks more for sonic textures than for rocking hard. The uses of organs adds nice touches to some songs like "White Plastic". "Illumination" is a very good song based on acoustic instruments with that retro sound that sometimes Mark Lanegan reaches in his solo albums. Another gem for collectors and Screaming Trees fans."
Here, at Ezhevika Fields, I'm providing information & listening preview samples of lost albums from the past. My only aim is to promote real art & music for some reasons currently unavailable according to my sources. If you are the artist or label & would like the link to be removed just contact me & it will be done.
I'd like to thank all original uploaders; collectors sharing music giving us the unique possibility to explore the culture. Thank you!
